WE SET OUT TO FEEL STRONG AGAIN — FOR OUR KIDS, AND FOR OURSELVES.

AS FORMER ATHLETES, PUSHING OURSELVES WAS SECOND NATURE. I
PLAYED SPORTS ALL MY LIFE, AND MY WIFE KASSIE WAS A COLLEGE AND
SEMI-PROFESSIONAL SOCCER PLAYER. WE WERE USED TO GRINDING THROUGH TOUGH
WORKOUTS. PUSHING OURSELVES WAS NATURAL. BUT AFTER OUR 20S, IT GOT HARDER TO
GRIND OUT THAT LAST REP OR CHASE ONE MORE MILE.

STOREFRONT WITH MY DAD. BACK THEN, I DIDN’T CARE WHAT WAS IN MY SUPPLEMENTS —
JUST HOW THEY MADE ME LOOK. THE RESULT? OVER-CAFFEINATED, BURNT OUT, AND WORN
DOWN. WE KNEW IT WASN’T GOOD FOR US, BUT WE KEPT TAKING THEM ANYWAY.

EVERYTHING SHIFTED WHEN WE BECAME PARENTS — ESPECIALLY WHEN
WE HAD OUR SON, WHO HAS SPECIAL NEEDS.

HE HAS NO DANGER AWARENESS. I’VE HAD TO PHYSICALLY SAVE HIM
MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. SO, FOR US, BEING FIT ISN’T OPTIONAL.

THE GYM ISN’T JUST ABOUT AESTHETICS ANYMORE — IT’S OUR
SELFISH TIME TO STAY STRONG, SHARP, AND GROUNDED. BECAUSE SHOWING UP BETTER FOR
OUR KIDS ISN’T OPTIONAL.
